L'Etranger
His name means "The
Stranger," and as Max has said, "he's about as strange as they
come." L'Etranger is often the focus of nervous jokes from Team Steel,
since he frightens them more than any other of their constant enemies. Rachel,
of course, fears him for the same reason every female agent at N-Tek fears
him-- he's a sexual predator who is attracted to women of strength. Max fears
him because he threatens the people Max cares about... and he simply will not
stay dead.
Much like Dragonelle, L'Etranger
equates sex with power. But while Dragonelle uses it as bait, L'Etranger uses
it as a weapon. He's fascinated with strong women because breaking them proves
him that much stronger. He also genuinely seems to enjoy the chase, and no
doubt the longer it takes to break one of his obsessions, the more he enjoys
it. He also seems to have a twisted appreciation of beauty, and an instinct to
collect. I've thought long and hard about how an obvious sexual predator can
keep a crew composed solely of women, and the only answer I can arrive at makes
my skin crawl. More than likely, his crew is composed of past conquests...
which would explain why none of his "obsessions" has ever filed
charges.
Like most sociopaths, L'Etranger is
still in the child-mindset where he wants nothing so much as what he is denied.
Currently, that would be Rachel, and various missions have shown that he's not
forgotten about her. The more he's denied, the more dangerous he'll become, and
the more his vendetta against Max will grow. Because after all, Max Steel is
the only thing standing in his way.
