Battle Songs

Children of forgotten gods,
Raise your voices to the sky.
Know the purpose of your battles,
You were not born only to die.
Seek for peace, though it is fleeting,
Seek for joy that may not last.
Keep hope always for the future,
Understand and guard the past.
Songs of love, songs of sorrow,
Songs of hope and fear and more,
Songs of yesterday, tomorrow,
And always, songs of war.
Sing for those in battle fallen,
Sing for dreams that fade away.
Sing of hope in darkest hour,
When sacrifice shall light the way.
And even though the peace is fragile,
Remember courage burning still.
For though your fight won't last forever,
The spirit of your people will.
Songs of love, songs of sorrow,
Songs of hope and fear and more,
Songs of yesterday, tomorrow,
And always, songs of war.

Elegy for Cybertron

The streets run full of madness here.
Obsession, dark betrayal, fear,
These things await in shadows deep
Where wholesome sunlight dares not creep.
No hero strides upon this stage;
All victims to a burning rage.
Some have forgotten what they are
And chase a vain, unfitting star.
To be what once they only seemed,
Unleashing horrors only dreamed.
Others still have lost their souls,
Infected by the dark that rolls
Along the streets and through the skies
As everything once brilliant dies.
And last, the king, still glaring down
At a world at once domain and crown.
The madness riots in his brain,
As joy and laughter, hate and pain,
Dreams and nightmares spin and change
And render the world dark and strange.
The madness runs throughout the streets
As the world's tired heart starts counting beats
Until at last, the silence falls
And madness goes from streets and halls
And naught is left to mark the race

Need for Speed

Run a little faster,
Push it to the top,
Kick it into overdrive,
Never wanna stop.
If I can match the power,
If I can match the speed,
If I can match the birds in flight,
I'll find the peace I need.
Just a little faster now,
I'm standing on the brink.
Go a little faster and
Then I won't have to think.

Fly a little faster,
Burning down the sky,
Leave behind the question-
Why'd you have to die?
Why'd you go and leave me?
Why'm I asking why?
Nothing matters anymore,
Except the speed I fly.
Just a little faster now,
I'm standing on the brink.
Go a little faster and
Then I won't have to think.

Go a little faster,
On the ground or in the air,
The world explodes around my ears,
'Til I no longer care.
I made myself a monster,
I turned against my friends,
And now I've gotta ride this out
Until the nightmare ends.
Just a little faster now,
I'm standing on the brink.
Go a little faster and
Then I won't have to think.

Spider's Legacy

Going to save the planet,
Blow our doom out of the sky.
Hop into my little pod,
It's time to fly and die.
Thought you'd won the battle.
The day's been saved, you see.
But I've left a little present,
It's the Spider's Legacy!
And someday even Megatron
Will fall down at my feet,
For a Spider's Legacy
Is trickery and deceit!
Thought you'd steal my knowledge,
And then you'd steal my schemes,
Thought you'd be free when I was gone.
Bwahaha! In your dreams!
What's that little whispering,
It's just where you can't see,
Roaming 'round inside your mind.
The Spider's Legacy!
And someday even Megatron
Will fall down at my feet,
For a Spider's Legacy
Is trickery and deceit!
Thought my death would end it,
When my lair all blew sky-high.
You should know by now, my children,
That I never truly die.
I've left behind a weapon,
Lying far beneath the sea.
I guess Megatron will find and use
The Spider's Legacy!
And someday all the universe
Will fall down at my feet,
For a Spider's Legacy
Is trickery and deceit!

Black Rose

Black as ebony,
Red as blood.
I'm no Snow White,
Is that understood?
You could say I'm a black rose,
Graceful and strong.
Look but don't touch,
Or you won't last long.
'Cause I've been trouble
Since the day I was born.
Better look out, boys,
Roses have thorns.

You come on like
You've got nothing to fear.
Back off, knight,
There's no damsel here.
I can kill with a kiss
Or a poisoned smile.
How can you think I'd
Be worth your while?
'Cause I've been trouble
Since the day I was born.
Better look out 'cause
Roses have thorns.

Take a walk in the light
With the sun on my face,
Leaving the darkness,
Finding my place.
I am who I am,
Sunlight and shade,
Leaving behind
All the roles that I played.
'Cause you made me recall
What I forgot I knew.
Roses have thorns,
But thorns have roses, too.

Roddy's Song

Got a hundred voices saying
That I should be this or that.
Lift my face up to the sunlight,
Then the memories stomp me flat.
Go a hundred miles an hour,
I can't leave behind the pain
Or the images of failure
That keep burning in my brain.
I can't lay down my burdens,
They're the price I have to pay.
Deep inside, I know I'm changing
Slipping further every day.
But I have to keep on going
Though the flame inside me dies
Keep on turning from the mirror--
'Cause I can't meet my own eyes.
I was always deep in trouble,
It's what I was all about.
Reckless and irresponsible--
But he'd always pull me out.
And it's my fault he's not here now,
So I have to try to be
Half the leader he was--
But I'm not sure it's in me.
I'm no hero, I'm no leader,
So I'll make myself anew.
What's one more transformation?
It's the least that I can do.
But I have to keep on going
Though the flame inside me dies
Keep on turning from the mirror-
'Cause I can't meet my own eyes.

Mourning

Other voices call me,
Reach into my head.
But I can only listen for
The singing of the dead.
I know I couldn't stop him
And no one could have known.
I know he didn't choose to go
And leave me here alone.
But left behind without him,
Chaos holds full sway
And though my friends might speak to me,
I can't hear what they say.
Without that final speaker
That I am waiting for,
The words have lost their meaning and
Nothing matters anymore.

Dark Reflection

Blame me for your troubles,
For I have caused them, true.
Give me all the hate and anger
Burning inside you.
You've always been my favorite.
You always want to dance.
You swear you'd tear my soul apart
If given half the chance.
The others preach of morals,
Of  "right" and "good" and "fair,"
And of all the lines of light and dark,
But you no longer care.
Look into the mirror,
Tell me what you see.
Is that your face that's staring back,
Or does it belong to me?

Ratty Rhyme

"I hate that rat,"
The spider said,
As most of his cavern
Fell down on his head.
The widow replied,
with an evil smile,
"I have to admit,
"He does have style."
When things blow up,
Or can't be found,
It's a pretty good guess
That the rat's been 'round.
The worst-laid plans
Of spiders and Preds
Tend to go wrong
And fall on their heads.
And Megs and Chuckles
Will both agree that
(if on nothing else,)
"I hate that rat!"

Homecoming

Home.
Crystal and steel towers,
Sunlight magnified
A hundred-fold.
The city is a jewel.
Funny-
This was all I ever wanted.
To finally go home,
And never leave again.
But all that I can think
Is that he should be here with me
And my dream is somehow rendered
Incomplete.
He'd be standing by my shoulder,
And we'd fight like cats and dogs
And I'd know that everything
Was right at last.
But somehow with all the voices
In this shuttle in the air,
The lack of one leaves silence
In it's wake.

Ghost in the Machine

Is a city ever empty?
If you take away its blood,
Will the life within it simply fade away?
These streets I walk are silent,
But yet I still can hear
The noises of some long-forgotten day.
And the voices of the people
Still are singing in my ears,
Accusing me of failure, in my mind.
And the song is always growing,
'Til it's all that I can hear,
'Til the pain and anger rise to leave me blind.
My city is a ghost town,
But a far more frightening shade
Is the one that hovers just out of my sight.
And it watches me with pleading,
But I cannot speak its name
And this lapse makes all my circuits cold with fright.
Are you someone I called brother?
Are you someone I called friend?
Are you yet another someone I let down?
And I feel like I am fading,
'Til I'm yet another shade
Wandering around this haunted town.

Hymn to a Wasp

Why do we love
A psychotic wasp?
Why do we cheer for a Pred?
And why, if we love him,
Do we clap when he's tossed
In the shredder, or stripped of his head?
Is it his buzzing,
Or his heart-tugging cries,
Or maybe eternal bad luck.
Or could it be that
He never quite dies
Though he's often exploded or struck.
He's been stomped on more times
Than a vineyard of grapes
And his limbs sent on separate trips,
While fans count the beats
Until somebody vapes
The bug, or shreds pencil-thin strips.
In the end, though, we cheer
As he's happy at last,
As he triumphs over Megatron's fools.
And it finally comes true,
As he's left in the past,
What we've said all along- WASPY RULES!

Battle Hymn of the BW Fan
(To the tune of "Battle Hymn of the Republic")

Oh mine eyes have seen the glory
Of the Mainframe CGI,
With reflections and the shadows,
It is candy for the eye.
And who'd argue that Dragon Megs is
One rocking-lookin' guy?
The tech keeps marching on!

Glory, glory, it's the Beast Wars!
Glory, glory, forget your chores.
Drawing converts in by the scores,
The show keeps marching on!

I have seen fans in the hallways
Down at Botcon with their toys.
Or drooling in the movie room
Like a brace of fanboys.
Or arguing with G1 fans,
Whom their presence annoys!
The fans keep marching on!

Glory, glory, it's the Beast Wars!
Glory, glory, forget your chores.
Drawing converts in by the scores,
The show keeps marching on!

In the design labs at Hasbro,
They were born of fantasy!
Then cast into the plastic
And sent out to you and me!
And when the new wave hits the stores,
Three guesses where we'll be!
The toys keep marching on!

Glory, glory, it's the Beast Wars!
Glory, glory, forget your chores.
Drawing converts in by the scores,
The show keeps marching on!
